We conduct human-centered research in agriculture, studying how farmers think, make decisions, and interact with the complex operational, economic, and technological environments in which they work. We work across agricultural systems and are not limited to a single crop. Focusing on dairy farming, we develop knowledge and technologies that support both animal well-being and sustainable production. Human Factors/Ergonomics (HF/E) principles and machine learning tools for real-farm data analytics are critical for improving farmers' acceptance of agricultural systems, thereby contributing to global challenges of food security and resource sustainability.
